From Thursday, April 8, 2024 — The Syracuse women’s basketball team is ranked No. 20 in the final Associated Press Poll of the season, announced Monday following Sunday’s national championship. Syracuse moved up two spots in the final poll after going 1-1 in the NCAA Tournament. The Orange finished the season 24-8 overall and peaked as high as No. 17 in the AP Poll during Felisha Legette-Jack‘s second season at the helm. The ACC Coach of the Year guided Syracuse to one of its best seasons in program history in just her second season tying program records in regular season wins (23), conference wins (13), and ACC road wins (6).  Read more…

Syracuse University buys Varsity Pizza and Faegan’s property, but don’t look for immediate changes

Syracuse N.Y. — Few things are as linked by tradition and history as Syracuse University and the Varsity Pizza shop in the Marshall Street area. The relationship is now even stronger: SU last month bought a strip of four commercial properties on South Crouse Avenue that includes the Varsity, Faegan’s Pub and other retail and commercial spaces. On Friday, April 1st, 2016 — Hillary Clinton swung her 2016 Presidential campaign through the Varsity to greet patrons and grab some lunch between her scheduled events. Varsity staff were more than happy to welcome the former U. S. Senator from New York, and when a staff member was asked to comment about the visit they were overheard to have stated in front of several Varsity patrons  “HILLARY, YOUR WINGS ARE READY!”
